Not always true (depends on the country). When I was in SG for 2 weeks I had 2 options pay 50USD or buy a sim. a sim is around LKR 2000 where as if you want data roaming from dialog it would have been 10,000 LKR.

When I was in Japan for one month, I used this unlimited data plan and used more than 100GB of data. ගොඩක් mobile data use කලේ නෑ apartment එකේ wifi speed 130Mb/s විතර තිබ්බා ඒකෙන් හිටියා. Unlimited plan එක තමයි කෙටි කාලයක් ඉන්නවනම් එකම සහ ලේසිම විසඳුම. Inflight roaming + transit රටවල් වලදිත් unlimited data තියෙනවා මතක හැටියට.

This is about Japan. Singapore has way more reasonable price solutions for mobile networks + low cost data. There are some countries which you wish you can keep using unlimited roaming as long as you stay there. But unfortunately that's not possible. I think maximum is one month. Not sure.

You can buy a SIM at the Narita airport. They have validity of one, three months or more. Some of them can be recharged.
Otherwise you can order one from Mobal and collect it from Japan.

Dialog SIM works in many countries. The only place so far it didn't work was Peru, Bolivia and a few African countries.

It seems Modal is cheaper and convenient compared to roaming. Now wonder whether to buy a long term plan or a short term plan.

I'll be working at Rakuten. Not sure they have their own service. Maybe I could switch to a different provider once I settle down, right?

Rakuten has their own mobile service... Not sure of any details.
