I worked on my onboard video chip even on SOFTWARE RENDERING!!! Software rendering because there wasn't proper drivers at that time. All the options set to lowest and I could even finish the game with it. Of course I couldn't take it anymore and went and bought a new video card. Maybe with the current drivers, the onboard chip can handle NFS Carbon a bit better.

* But it all depends on the onboard chip.

Didn't you get problems when playing Carbon on 945G? My friend and some other person on this forum had issues.

No none so far... sometimes it crashes back to the desktop but ithink that's because of the lack of memory... graphics wise no issue... 2x anti aliasing 4x anisotropic filtering @ 1024x768

One of my friends play carbon with his onboard vga... its an intel D102 board, the chipset is ATI RADEON Xpress 200... this is a special motherboard manufactured by intel... for high end graphics.... the video memory can be increased upto 224MB...it shares just 8MB from the RAM...
http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/D102GGC2/index.htm
Intel 965G allows sharing up to 384MB RAM, but it doesn't have any dedicated RAM onboard.

yo those xpress chipsets OB's r damn fast. and that OB you have sucks compared even to the fx5200. which has vertex and pixel shaders and seperate DDR memory. u could always put a pentium 2 heatsink over it and OC it to fx5200 ultra specs

Thats not 100% true.coz u can play Carbon on Nvidia 6100 and 6150 onboard VGA.And all Separate VGAs are not supporting Carbon(ie: nVidia MX4000)
The new ATI 690 is a cut down version of X700 (but heavity cut down :() It will perform better than the GF6150.
Also Intel's upcoing G35 will be a very good onboard solution as well, with DirectX 10 support.

That's X3000. I have it. But the driver support wasn't fine at the time I played the game. They were introducing functionalities with each driver release. version 14.27 is supposed to be the full featured driver with all the hardware support. But I never got to play with it. (BTW, you need dual channel RAM to see some performance)
