I am interested in the BIT External Degree. I have sat for the selection test and is waiting for results.

But I don't have a clear idea about it.
Can anyone tell me how will the classes/exams will be conducted and where (I applied for Colombo).
And any other things I should know.

Also, when will the selection test results come.

I did first year in BIT. The exams were IQ based, where you get minus marks for wrong answers for a specific question. However minimum marks you can get for a question is 0.

When I did it, I had 8 subjects for the first year. They were quite easy in my opinion. Also we had to do an online quiz, which carried like 10% of the final marks.

I did not go to any classes. I do not think it is necessary. But that will totally depend on you.

Good luck. If you ask me, I'd say don't worry that much about the first year, It is not that difficult. But don't know anything about it after that..

BIT is a degree given by a Sri Lankan University, BCS is given by British Computer Society.

So the validity of the BCS is high internationally. And yes they are both IT degrees.

Some people do BIT as an additional degree. I did BIT first year because I thought I do not need to spend additional time and effort on BIT. If you feel that you might need to put some extra time on BIT I suggest do only BCS and then focus the rest of your energy on industrial certifications like CCNA, MCSE, RHCE, CEH, etc..

Is there any way to skip the first year,i mean if you have done a diploma or something like that?
