if its unresponsive but works in the other mode, why dont you try installing a 3rd party app for messaging, try running Service, *#*#7378423*#*# and run all the tests, including the touch screen tests and draw everywhere, if it is working fine, wait for the next update, or re download the new update and flash the device.

no machang i went for my service warranty , according to them ,need to be rollback to Gingerbread , i had to listen them coz warranty.........
but i don't think this is ICS issue..........
