As I mention earlier I assume we have less number of AMD fans in Sri Lanka. Never the less with my limited budget I'm planning to build a decent AMD system. Below are the main components info. Let me know if anyone have comments for that or some advice. (Don't say go for Intel, not in this life time guys )

CPU - AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor

Motherboard -
GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

Memory and HDD not decided but since I'm into visualization testing it will be minimum 8 GB and 500 GB HDD.

Cheers

Sorry If I'm ruining the party , I'm an AMD fanboy too, I haven't done any researches about this CPU's performance but considering AMD's new CPUs I assume even a cheapass E7400 would beat this, correct me if I'm wrong

MD Phenom II X2 550 got 4 cores but 2 are hidden by AMD due to stability issues. But with proper motherboard you can unlock all 4 cores. Apart from that this one can be overclock to 3.8 GHz with air cool. That is why these are called as Black Edition. One of my friend in USA sending them for me. That cost me Rs 25k but with shipping and handling I'm expecting it should be 35k maxa. But this can be get down from www.slmega.com as well. But in slmega they charge too much for the mobo.
Will take few weeks to get this done. Performance wise there is a big difference with this model and Intel. One major thing is the price factor. AMD one's are much less price. Anyway Intel i7 are the highest ranked processors these days. But who cares if my job can be done by these config.

Dude im a AMD fan too.:)
There is lot of Advantages when going for a AMD system.
Same performance and low cost, You could get a cool Motherboad powered with good AMD chipset and ATI HD onboard GPU(Intel boards got Intel 965 crap with P45 chipset) , Awesome memory bandwith in Phenoms and many more cool features.

Your motherboard is so cool but CPU got no enough performance compared with MB. So try to go for a PII X3 720 and unlock the forth core. Thats the best budget system ATM :D
