To make sense of these alphanumeric sub-model names, all we have to know is that the first number indicates horsepower, and the second indicates the number of drive wheels. Tie that in with translations of Superleggera (super light), Performante (high performance), and recognize Spyder as Lamborghini's word for a convertible, and you've decoded the entire range.

All versions of the Gallardo use a variation on the same 5.2-liter V-10 engine, rated from 550 horsepower to 570 horsepower. All except the LP 550-2 versions use Lamborghini's all-wheel-drive system, and all models of the Gallardo come standard with the company's "e gear" robotized sequential paddle-shift transmission.

Even in the often wild world of supercars, Lamborghini carries a reputation for extreme design and performance. The 2013 Lamborghini Aventador takes that reputation to its technological conclusion.

At the heart of the Aventador lies a 6.5-liter, 700-horsepower V-12 engine. Peak power arrives at a screaming 8,250 rpm, while the 509 pound-feet of torque peaks at 5,500 rpm. Despite the high-revving stats, the engine is surprisingly tractable around town, only opening up its bark (and bite) when prodded.

2013 Audi Q5

The Q5 competes in the crowded compact luxury crossover segment that includes the Acura RDX, BMW X3, Infiniti EX35, Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class and Volvo XC60. It seats five and comes with standard Quattro all-wheel drive and a choice of a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a new supercharged 3.0-liter V-6. An all-new Q5 Hybrid is also available.

New for 2013

A new 272-horsepower, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 replaces the 3.2-liter V-6 offered previously; a turbocharged four-cylinder remains the base engine. Exterior design revisions include new headlights with available LED daytime running lights, a new grille and updated taillights. On the inside, the Multi Media Interface controls have updated finishes, and there are new chrome accents on the window controls. The newly available Audi Connect telematics system uses 3G cellphone technology to enable Google Maps satellite-image overlays, real-time gas prices, weather information, news and Wi-Fi service for up to eight devices.
