Two people who were promoting the ‘Pyramid Scheme’ lottery scam together with 10 others attending a publicity programme on the illegal scheme were arrested yesterday, the Kurunegala police said
They said the group was arrested while at a house in Ganewatta. A computer laptop was also seized by the police.
Central Bank Assistant Director A.K. Gamage said the racket had now moved to the Kurunegala district after a severe crack down in most other parts of the country. He said the CID was carrying was on the look out for those promoting the illegal pyramid scheme among the public.
