It all depends on your needs, because from Tablet PCs to Laptops (Mobiles in between), there are key differences.
What are your concerns? What do you really need and what would you do daily?

Tablet PCs keeps getting better and better. And since Windows 8 is released, there would be more latest Tablet PCs available on the market sooner or later.
Processing is not as heavy as a laptop. Benefits of this is it's portable.
Laptops - newer ones come with Windows 8 installed as well. This is a good choice if you want to replace your desktop PC.
Smartphones would be your own personal choice of style. They're more like the smaller versions of Tablets.

I want a Portable device and i want it to download things from internet. Can tablet PC do all the things that PC can do??
If you're not a heavy gamer playing PC games, then a Tablet PC will be fine.
