I did ICT Technician NVQ 4 course in Rathmalana tech. college. (2017)
During our time we had to follow these modules,
For the NVQ 3 qualification:
- OS management (Windows) : includes OS installing, managing the dsktop
- Computer Hardware : Understand the hardware components, assembling, troubleshooting
- MS Office package - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access
- Internet & Email
To gain NVQ 4, you have to complete these modules along with the NVQ3 subjects,
- Networking Basics
- Web Designing - HTML, CSS
- Graphic Designing - Adobe Photoshop
- Programming - Visual Basic
(You need to complete the training successfully in order to get the NVQ4)
The course duration is 1 year. (6 months academic studies + 6 months on-the-job training)
There will be 2 examinations : Department examination and NVQ examination.
Department examination is consisted with MCQ and structured essay papers.
We had the NVQ examination as two practical test. But in present, a writing test is included along with practical tests. Each practical test will assess the competency for NVQ 3 and 4 respectively. The assessors may ask some random vocal questions from a subject.
I recommend you to enroll to either state or reputed technical institute. (Ex : LAVTEC, VTA, NAITA or any TVEC-governed technical college,...)
If possible, try to do A/L again. The government jobs are often ask for A/Ls (hard to change the old system, eh?)
*.
NVQ4 is considered as a A/L-equivalent for a given trade (something that most of people unaware in SL). After completion, you can continue to NVQ5...the diploma equivalent.
* Because I am also a person who have only 2S, I experienced that sh*t very well.
