GCE O/L exam results on April 3
The results of GCE O/L examination held in December 2007 will be out on Thursday April 3, a Department of Examinations source said yesterday. School Principals in the Colombo district will be able to collect the results from the examination department, he said. The results will be available on the internet by Friday afternoon.

O/L results soon but not as soon as expected – Exam Chief

On-going rechecking process will take sometime and the release of the GCE (O/L) won’t be possible presently, The Island learns.
‘Abnormalities’ in results usually warrant rechecking. The Examinations Department is re-scrutinising, among other things, the results of the students who have fared extremely well in most of the subjects but scored low marks in others. "Before we release results, we must eliminate all doubts," an Examination Department official said last night.
Asked for his comments, Commissioner General of Examinations Anura Edirisinghe confirmed that rechecking was on. He said it was a usual process to rule out the possibility of any student being affected by errors on the part of examiners or technical problems. "The process will take quite sometime," he said, "and I don’t think we will be able to release results immediately."
He said the results would be released as soon as possible but refused to give a timeframe. Everything had to be done meticulously and until the Department had allayed all doubts as to the accuracy of results, results could not be released, he said.
Everything was in order and no one should be unduly concerned, he said.
The GCE (O/L) examination was held from December 10 to 20, last year at 3,990 centres islandwide. About 520,000 students sat the examination. There was a special centre in Chennai for 105 students. The answer script evaluation was completed in first week of January.
