Hi guys,

My budget is a little over Rs.1.5 million and since I am a first time buyer I would like to buy a brand new car.

I want to choose between the Alto K10 Vxi which costs around Rs. 15,60000 at A*W or a Perodua Viva 1000cc manual gear costing Rs. 14,90000.

Although I think fuel efficiency wise, Alto does better VIVA seems to have more options like Alloys, Airbags, Power mirrors etc.

The car also has a better look and more space inside.

After reading all your reviews, I found that however the ground clearance is lower than the Alto K10. Since I will need to use the vehicle mostly to drive to the North and East what do you guys think? Would it hit the bottom on the humps and give me a hard time with potholes?
Also worrried about second hand market with Viva and spares? Please help..

Viva is supposed to be very popular in Malaysia. Unfortunately, not very established in SL.

It's basically a Dihatsu Mira copy. Engine is DVVT - Very good fuel echonomy. Spacious inside but looks unsafe to me.

Go to the showroom and test drive... That's the best way...
2nd hand value is not promising.

But machan, if you're worried about 2nd hand value, why not try buying second hand? Your budget easily can get you to a second hand jap vehicle. Try Toyota -starlet, sprinter, soluna etc. Nissan - fb14. March etc.

    (Lahipita/Hits ad will be better)

@ WICKILEAKS ... I don't like K10. Same as old Alto. Interior is bit OK. Engine may be better. But Viva comes with DVVT, 14' Alloys, PW,PM and so many features.

I have heard that Micro do not keep a stock of spare parts for most of its models. They only order them on requirement basis so you wud have to wait 3-6 months to get spares. Also unlike the alto, second hand market for micro is in the bare minimum. My advice is go for the alto if you really need a "brand new" vehicle. Otherwise with that kind of money I would definitely go for a second hand yet more reliable, fuel efficient and comfortable car like a toyota corolla.:yes::yes::yes:

Guys i bought a VIVA Elite recently. I advanced in May (Rs 200,000)..finally received the car in September...Yea it was a frustating wait..Unimo people told me we had to wait at least 03 months..I actually had to wait little more than that..This duration depends on the Shipment you see...I actually got mine from the August shipment. So there may be pple who got their cars in a shorter time than mine (even pple who advanced after me) :(

Talking abt the sales pple at Unimo...they were really nice and most importantly honest abt delivery dates.

Abt the price....I bought the Standard Auto which is 15,95,000 ( Plus i had to pay 7500 for registration and 5000 as With-holding tax in addition). Standard Manual is 1 lakh cheaper at 14,95,000. :)

I have driven only 300+Kms so far. I believe it's doing around 17kmpl with AC (I drove to Kandy recently from Kadawatha - Avg speed was 60kmph). Leg spacing is really good and one cannot ask for more...

Guys tell me if you wanna know any specific things abt VIVA Elite...

    Thanks
