Rumors regarding AMD's upcoming ATI R600 graphics processor have been circulating for a while, but the folks at VR-Zone have managed to get their hands on what they say is a picture of the top-of-the-line R600 graphics card. The card is incredibly long and looks like it's outfitted with a massive, copper, heat pipe-based cooler. According to VR-Zone, that particular card has a length of no less than 12.4" (31.5cm), but it's intended solely for system builders and PC makers. The retail version will supposedly be "just" 9.5" (24.13cm) long, which would make it slightly shorter than Nvidia's 10.6" (27cm) GeForce 8800 GTX. As for power consumption, both cards will reportedly draw a staggering 270W. A slower, R600 "XT" model also rumored to be in AMD's launch lineup will have slightly lower power consumption of 240W.

Just imagine 240W or 270W used by the video card alone!!! We can't use them even if we could afford them.

It's about time they shipped with a power supply too.

I really hope that's just an engineering sample.
The more I hear about R600, the more ridiculous it becomes.

Ya...................
Up to 270W? I think that's more than the power consumption entire PC like 3 GHz C2D and 8800GTX included, consumes while gaming.

Seems like we will have to go with a 8600Ultra :(
I don't like nVidia. Their Vista drivers are pathetic
