Assassination was to carry out either along Galle Face in Colombo or at the Lake House Junction in Fort by a “Desert Operation” using well-trained Army personnel. The whole plan was master-minded by the Rtd. Gen: Sarath Fonseka.
For the smooth carrying out of the alleged plan, Sarath Fonseka had reserved nearly 70 rooms in two high-class Hotels located in the vicinity of Temple Trees – the official residence of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Presidential Secretariat. Those rooms were occupied by Army deserters and retired Army personnel who are supporting Sarath Fonseka. Assassinating the Secretary of Defence after being brought to Galle Face and insulting him publicly was also in the plan, Mr. Hulugalle told media.
