President postpones addressing nation
Bodies suspected of Prabakaran’s brought to Colombo
(Lanka-e-News, May 17, 2009, 4.50 PM) Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abewardhana says that the President’s special statement regarding the end of the war and the present situation will not take place today as expected but the President will address the nation from the parliament on Tuesday (19).
Unconfirmed sources said that several dead bodies suspected of LTTE leader Prabakaran had been brought to Colombo and several days would be needed to match the DNA of the bodies with the DNA of Prabakaran’s that is stored in India.
Our attempts to call the Media Center for National Security or the Army spokesman to get the information verified failed.
Meanwhile Army spokesperson Udaya Nanayakkara said in the press conference today evening, soldiers have boxed the remaining LTTE cadres and leaders into a 800 square meters land stretch in the Vellaimullaivaikkal area and battle with them now. 'Sometimes LTTE leader could be in there' he said.
