I am writing this letter in regards to my Apple AirTags, which are being held by customs and require permission from the Ministry of Defence due to their GPS functionality.

I would like to clarify that Apple AirTags are consumer-grade products that use a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signal to communicate with nearby Apple devices, such as iPhones or iPads. They do not have GPS functionality and do not rely on any cellular network or satellite signal to determine their location.

The BLE signal transmitted by the AirTag is only detectable by Apple devices within proximity and is not capable of transmitting location information beyond that range. In fact, the AirTag only contains a small speaker that can emit a sound when prompted by an iPhone, which is used to help locate the AirTag when it is lost.

Furthermore, the technical specifications of the AirTag, as provided by Apple, clearly state that the product does not have GPS capabilities. The AirTag relies solely on Bluetooth technology to communicate with Apple devices and does not use any other location tracking technology.

Therefore, I respectfully request that the Ministry of Defence approves the release of my Apple AirTags held by customs without any further delay.
