The Special Task Force (STF) is currently raiding the office of General Sarath Fonseka located near Royal College in Colombo. An official at the General’s office said that over 200 STF personnel are searching the premises.
Our reporter at the scene said that the office has been surrounded by masked STF officers and the media is not being given access to the office.
UNP Deputy leader Karu Jayasuriya who visited the scene at the time of the raid, later told reporters that the STF had informed him they were looking for army deserters and illegal weapons hidden at the location but did not find anything during the search. Several other opposition members also visited the scene at the time of the raid this evening.
