Global ransomware attack makes less than $US60,000 as only 209 victims choose to pay
The hackers behind the global ransomware attack that infected 300,000 computers worldwide over the weekend have made less than $US60,000 from the attack, based on publicly available bitcoin accounts
The initial $US300 ransom demanded by the cyber criminals to unlock computers doubles to $US600 on Monday.
But so far few victims of the attack appear to have paid.
As of midnight (AEST) the total value of funds paid into anonymous bitcoin wallets the hackers are using stood at just $US55,169, from 209 payments, according to calculations made by Reuters using publicly available data.
