The Red Lotus has appealed for funds to help victims of Myanmar's devastating cyclone.

The appeal is being made by the Sri Lanka branch of the Red Lotus, which has been functioning since March 2006 following the tsunami that hit Sri Lanka and several other Asian countries in December 2004.

In response to this humanitarian organization's request the Australia-based Society for Peace, Unity and Human Rights in Sri Lanka (SPUR) - with a branch in New Zealand - has offered its services voluntarily for collecting funds in the two countries.
