In my opinion If you don't wanna learn about advance windows techniques, not finding it fun and your interest on other subject fields like doctors, accountants and has a good backup software or solution then don’t waste time by spending days and hours on searching for fixes and solutions for OS. Just reinstall and restore from backups.
coz mastering windows problem solving takes lot of time and lot of effort. It’s like endless cycle, everyday something new popup. So if you are out of the scene for like year then your knowledge can be out of date. So really think before you go in to the extreme and put your time and effort for it, which you can use for your interest area that can be more beneficiary in long run.

See... trying to figure out how to solve things make you find out a hell lot of things that you dunno! Yeah! If sm person isn't interested about those things... well... best option is to restore... ;)

To tell the truth I haven't re-installed windows for more than 3 or 4 times in ma life...

As I said earlier... windows is like your life... So get on with it and troubleshoot it accordingly..

It may consume a hell lot of time but still its worth the amount you learn by doing that...

Still as GT said, if you dont have time its better to re-install and restore the backups... But its fun troublshooting windows.. ;)

but in our case, reinstalling windows is the most time consuming thing :D
because it is not just reinstalling windows, but installing other software, configuring them....

As i said before, that’s why you need to have a good backup solution. If you have a backup image with OS and all software configured then its a snap to restore.
If you have like any of monthly/weekly/daily backups then its just automatic compare the system for updated files or databases and restore them. You can go back to the exact previous system before the crash in minutes.
Nothing like searching google for a fix for days and testing a fix and making more problems. You can permanently damage your existing data when you use the wrong method to fix or patch.

So playing around is good if you don’t have sensitive and critical data. And you are a PC enthusiast which you have not much valueble data/systems to loose. And you are a power user and have time and effort to stick with it. I also personally love to play with PCs but saying it to general public and advice them to do it is not a good move. So i think the best method is good backup solution and continues automatic system maintenance software like Iolo System Mechanic if you are really not a PC enthusiast.

Well! Hmmm.... I also used acronis but (still I have a backup - JustInCase :D ) Well... yeah... there are sm errors tht's almost impossible to figure out how to resolve... but most of the time googling will help coz there's the least chance of you being the one who has faced tht problem first. So by that way, you can get to know what has happened and get out of what has happened, after wasting several minutes wasted ... but in my case it's worth it... + yeah! of course, for people who have concerns far important than playing with your PC... well, it'll be far better to have continuous incremental backups... he he...

After all PCs and other technologies are there for people to make their life easy ne...
