කාන්තාවන්ට එරෙහි සමීප සහකරු හිංසනය (IPV) සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකාව ඉහළ මට්ටමක පවතී. ප්රචණ්ඩත්වය වාර්තා කිරීම සහ අපයෝජනයට ලක්වූවන්ගේ සංඛ්යාව ද සැලකිය යුතු ලෙස අඩු ය. ශ්රී ලංකා සමාජය අතර, විශේෂයෙන් කාන්තාවන් අතර සමීප සහකරු හින්සන වලට ඉවසීම ඉහළ මට්ටමක පවතින බව පෙනේ. කෙසේ වෙතත්, මේ සඳහා හේතුව තවමත් නොදනී. කාන්තාවන්ට එරෙහි සමීප හවුල්කරුවන්ගේ හිංසනය සමාජමය වශයෙන් පිළිගැනීමට ගෞරව අනුමත කිරීමේ මට්ටම දායක වන බව පෙර පර්යේෂණවලින් පෙනී යයි. මෙම මාතෘකාව පිළිබඳව ශ්රී ලංකාවේ කිසිදු පර්යේෂණයක් කර නොමැත. මෙම අද්යයනයේ අරමුණ වන්නේ එම පරතරය පිරවීම සහ ගෞරව පර්යේෂණ සඳහා මූලික රාමුවක් ලෙස සේවය කිරීමයි. එහි පරමාර්ථය වන්නේ රටේ සමීප හවුල්කාර ප්රචණ්ඩත්වයට ගරු කිරීම සහ පිළිගැනීම අතර සම්බන්ධතාවය අවබෝධ කර ගැනීමයි.

I am an undergraduate student following my Bachelor of Sciences (BSc) in Psychology awarded by Cardiff Metropolitan University in the UK. The current research is conducted for my BSc final year program (we also hope to publish the paper), and it targets anyone over the age of 18 (both males and females) residing in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is at high prevalence for Intimate partner violence against women. Reporting of violence, and the number of abusers being prosecuted also remains significantly low. Tolerance to IPV among Sri Lankan society, particularly women, seems to be high. However, the reasons behind this are not known. Previous research suggests that the level of honour endorsement plays a part in the societal acceptance of intimate partner violence against women. There has been no research on this topic done in Sri Lanka. This study aims to fill that gap and serve as a fundamental framework for honour research. Its purpose is to understand the relationship between honour and acceptance of intimate partner violence in the country.
