Grand Tour presenter Richard Hammond airlifted to hospital after crash in Swiss mountain race
Former Top Gear star Richard Hammond has reportedly been airlifted to hospital after crashing his car in a Swiss mountain race.
The 47-year-old suffered injuries while driving on a road closed for the Bergrennen Hemberg race in the canton of St.Gallen, north-east Switzerland, according to Swiss newspaper 20 Minuten.
A spokesperson from the St Gallen police said the injured driver was taken to hospital by air ambulance.
Hammond was in Switzerland filming for The Grand Tour, which he stars in alongside ex-Top Gear co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson and James May, according to Swiss media.
Mr Hammond's agents have been contacted for a comment.
