Born as a DJ to a world of Vinyl around 92, DJ Ruki first made a name for himself in the mobile DJ circuit in South Asia. Namely a little island called Sri Lanka. First playing for the biggest mobile DJ crew back then, Cool Tempo. Playing for the leading company didn’t stop Ruki from venturing deeper into the music scene. The next stop was TNL Radio (CHR Format), where he had to start as an Account Executive selling airtime. It never really took off with them so Ruki went to Yes FM (A Hot AC Format Radio Station). Here Ruki started his broadcasting career as an On Air Personality (radio DJ). The “Grave Yard Shift” was not really what he wanted to do so he worked himself up the schedule till he landed the 8-12 belt. He was then approached to take over and completely rearrange a segment at SUN FM (CHR Format). Thus was born Sri Lanka’s very first Hip Hop Show. Ruki helped establish local musicians giving them airplay and introducing an urban culture to a little island miles away from the Bronx.
Master of Sound was the next venture. Ruki helped form, train and manage one of Sri Lanka’s biggest Mobile DJ Outfits. It’s grown so much today that they have their own Nightclub and even do sound and lighting for international acts such as Venga Boys. Today Ruki calls Chicago home. Started off with one of Chicago’s premier DJ Services, Club Circuit DJ. He is still very much a part of this service DJ’ing for weddings, cooperate functions, cotillions etc. Entertainment Unlimited Chicago was born in the middle of 2003 and has grown from a little house party DJ Service to an Outfit ready to face any event. EUC now boasts of the very latest Digital Vinyl CD Players, a heart pounding sound system and club effect intelligent light systems. Ruki was also promoted to State Manager for Illinois for Kevin Colangelo’s Premier DJ Service.
