    Hi Guys,
My daughter is preparing for schooling next year and I am from kandy. Currently I have two options to select school and one is Hillwood college and other one is Swarnamali College. I already received confirmation letter from Hillwood and my gut feeling is that my daughter will get selected to Swarnamali school as well since my wife is a old student of that college. Can somebody give me a best school from these two schools?

Hillwood is a private school and is governed by the Anglican church. (The other schools are Trinity, St. Thomas', Bishops)
Culturewise there are differences as Hillwood has the more "posh" culture and Swarnamali is a gov school just like any other.
Education at both schools are good.
The people your child would meet at Hillwood are of a different class and mindset, mostly.
Expenses will be different as Hillwood will ask for money for a lot of things (not that Swarnamali will never ask :P)
If you are ok with your child's expenses Hilwood has a slight edge.
Sometimes these Anglican schools behave a little racist, not show to the outside, specially in selecting prefects etc, it's the Anglican child that has the advantage. But that doesn't mean others have no chance. All depends on how religious the incumbent principal is. And also the instructions given by the Bishop's office.
Anyway I think Hilwood has more facilities and a slightly better education, maybe, although their aim is not to enter the university but go abroad, mostly.

    chose wisely. good luck.

Don't know much abut Swarnamali but I knew few girls who have been to Hillwood. They've always mentioned that the school is good for the other activities but not for the education. what about high school and mahamaya?

Ah, I havent seen your comment before i published mine :)
You've said everything i missed but you've forgotten one little fact as nowadays most of the wealthy islamic girls are attending to Hillwood since their aim is not to climb up the education ladder.

yeah their aim is to learn English only.
But several years ago one of the colleges out of what I mentioned:P limited the number of muslim students on the instructions of the "governers"
the reason was that large numbers of muslim girls means the school's extra activities such a s sportsmeets have very less participans as muslim girls refrain from taking part.
other reason was that muslim girls refuse to take part in the choir etc citing religious reasons, thus making it difficult to conduct Christian ceremonies etc.
