The stranger
The stranger smiled with me,
Showing great friendliness with glee
She was fair, tall, and lovely
Sure a stranger had never been so friendly.
I was stunned, stunned and stunned,
For she looked great, so great and great
Her face like a rose and eyes like a bird’s
She was really so lovely, I can’t describe in words.
I felt so happy as my heart filled with joy,
For an angel smiled with me, a poor little boy
When she smiled, I did feel my heart tremble
Soon I ran off like a lamb that gambol!
She was pretty, fair and tall,
Though she was hardly the prettiest of all,
Yet she looked more friendly than many or all,
Whom I had met as I oftenest recall.
I often think I will meet her tomorrow,
With little hope, which from imagination I borrow
Some believe it strangest to love so much one stranger
But who knows if she’s to be my life’s changer!
