mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....... its like this... as the cost of living is getting higher and higher it will be better for the family economy...... and also a woman can be her own if she is earning herself...... but in my view.... if a husband can take care of his wife and children and if he is in a state to give them what they need.... so its better for a woman to stay home and take care of her family....... If my husband can take care of my family well, i will do the same

From what I have experienced, there’s no difference to the family if wife is going for a job or not… In my family I have 4 elder sisters and 1 younger sister… My mum was a president of some volunteer women’s committee…I guess she was with that committee for more than 30 years…. She was working very hard with that committee and proudly I can say that’s the most active and most famous women’s committee in Maldives…
Sometimes we can’t even see her for one whole day...But we got love, care n everything from her, she is a good mother and a wife, and because of her today we have a gr8 family and she has 6 children that she can proudly say she have 6 children…..There’s no point mother should be at home all the time.. Its ok we can say mothers should give love and care for us all the time... If she is at home and not caring or not giving any love, what’s the point of staying as a housewife…? I can see from our Sl neighbors, some are housewives, they always stay in home and only hugging the children, giving food to them and buying nice clothes to them.. But they don’t tell what’s wrong and right… They just only tell them to study and they don’t do anything if they are not studying.. Its ok some believe if it’s a mother also they cant force to do anything, but when the children come home with the report and if they fail, mother starts to shout and beat.. What’s the point of doing that on that time... Can he/she change the result that time.. Definitely Can’t… Being a good mother is not only hugging, giving foods, clothes and staying with them for 24 hrs… If mother knows how to give love n care and being as a good wife to her husband and if she has ability to face the community there’s no point of being home as a housewife…. Every one has their right even if it’s a husband or a wife… This is what I believe.

The place I love to live....
i think its depend on how our financial standing and the understanding about each other, a person like me (middle class) think both must work untill we have come to a position that we can stand on our foot.

growing children, cooking and housekeeping its a shared job, that both can do by helping each other.

so my vote go's to : wife should work,

Umm I didn't vote because the option I wanted to vote for isn't there. I think it's up to the women, don't you?

As a working girl I think it's good if a girl is working and support her husband by earning.... that also will gives her a path for career progress and she can have a self prestige and financial security too..... but in the other hand she must learn how to balance her family life and work...... there are loads of women in Sri lanka who are in the top management leading good family lives.......

Another important thing is that husbands should be more understanding and very helpful to them in every way....... that means not to do all house hold duties but to support her when she needed help........So I guess women are strong enough to handle both duties well.......... So no point of avoiding women from work because that is not practical even in the today's economy..........
