Sri Lankan singer Priyani Jayasinghe has been found dead at her home.
A police spokesperson has confirmed that the singer was found stabbed to death in the town of Panadura, in Kalutara District, around 27km south of Colombo.
The murder is believed to have been committed using a pair of scissors.
Multiple news outlets in Sri Lanka, including a Reuters journalist and TV channel Ada Derana, are reporting that the singer's husband is being sought by police in connection with the incident.
Priyani's tragic death was confirmed by family members, who changed her Facebook profile picture from one of the singer to a white flag blowing in the wind.
A message was posted alongside it, saying: "Rest in peace Sister Priyani..May you attend Nibbana
"May you be born among us again.. May you attain the supreme bliss of nibbana!!"
Priyani was mum to at least two boys, having recently shared a picture of herself with one of her sons, captioning it: "With my elder son".
On her Facebook page, she regularly shared pictures of herself appearing on TV
