Nope.
That is FUP not Quota based packages. in LK, They operate on different business model than BB in most other countries. ISP manage ARPU by Pay per use basis, coz not every customer can afford something like $50 per month for unmetered service.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t what I outlined in my original reply relevant to all data paradigms universally (Not the peak/offpeak structuring, the hardware cost component)?

If we forget the trade monopoly our telecom folks have secured over the years for a second, isn’t the infrastructure-related capital cost what is primarily holding us back from instilling FUP oriented packages? Local telecom is highway robbery, but let’s be realistic, there’s too large an economic obstacle embedded here somewhere that as a nation we aren’t yet robust enough to overcome.

I’m not in the telecom biz so answer me this if you can, do we currently have more than enough means to handle a substantial day-to-day traffic?

As an average, Sri lanka has enough capacity to handle fttx broadband traffic at 100M (1TB/mo). But to get ROI ISP s need ARPU in global value, considering all factors including less subscriber penetration, economic situation, misuse etc. Telco expect about $50 per connection if it's unmetered. But usually client expect around $10. If it has given as entry rate, There should be way of being profitable. That's why they cost per GB. Who use more pays around $50-100 but others lesser. If overall rates cut to global rates, business customers including ILL/IPLC rates also need to cut, which ultimately fall telcos down. As a summary, 100M can give at global rate if 10M link rate is same or near it. Coz bandwidth increase but cost not decrease.
