Ok so I got it installed today but there was a powercut just as they were trying to configure. Karuma thamai. So after hanging around for about 15 minutes they gave me the instructions on how to configure the STB and went off. Now the thing is that I was told to enter "iptv" as the domain, but it won't take it. Keeps on saying " error: please re-input domain name". Any one got any idea as to what I'm doing wrong? Both the channels are up, and the channel on VCI 36 is bridged. Obalage sahaya labaganna puluwannam obalata pinsiddawenawa.

A heads up for owners of wireless routers who are thinking twice about getting the PEO service:

Most, if not all, adsl routers (including wireless adsl routers) support multiple PVCs these days. This means your existing router can be used with no issues. All you need to do is create a second PVC (WAN connection) with VPI/VCI = 8/36 and set connection type as "Bridge(d)". Then connect the patch cord to an ethernet port of your choice, and the other end to your STB. Some VisionCom "contractors" say that you need to reserve an ethernet port for the iptv channel. This is bollocks because the connection is bridged and sharing a single IP address, so your STB will sort things out by itself. And that's all there is to it. But don't refuse the free adsl box though, given the weather these days it'll be nice to have a free backup.

machan umbata dila thiyenne ZTE router ekadad nethnam UTStarcom (same brand as the STB) ekada? Because UTStarcom eka tikak hodai wage mage USR 9108 ekath wediya. Mam average speeds comapre kala 2 hour periods with TV streaming and torrents going at full speed. UTStarcom average is 130kb/s while the USR 9108 is barely touching 100kb/s. I think the hardware in the UTStarcom is better able to handle low latency constant throuput streams. And the best thing is it doesn't freeze after a few hours, unlike the USR, which stops responding to the web interface and telnet, and finally you have to do a manual powercycle. So check with your SLT office and see if they'll give you the UZTStarcom router.
