I have some experience, sir; in the NFS Porsche game, we can drive on snowy alpine mountain roads. and some mods are available that can turn Normandie roads into snowy terrain.

I have driven in Norway and visited most of the places of interest for over five weeks. That includes the beautiful Lofoten islands that's in the Arctic Circle. Check a map. It's about one and a half flight from Oslo, or a much longer by a ferry from Bodø. We flew in to save time.
There's enough Green in Norway and Lofoten - Because Lofoten benefits from warm water currents flowing Northwards. Also there are Boreal rainforests in Norway mainland. Whoever told you this must have been in Greenland. :ROFLMAO:
If the roads are unsafe to drive obviously they close the roads. I have driven across walls of snow, several meters in height in Norway but just after the road was cleared by the machines. Most roads are completely closed depending on the season. That's why you need to plan properly.
This happens in all the snow bound countries across the world. I have driven across snow in many countries, from Alsaka to Europe, and also sometimes got stuck when they close roads. Once in Switzerland I got stuck before even the winter started, they closed one pass and I had booked a hotel on the other side of the pass. The stupid Google maps didn't show any alternative route but Maps.ME did show much longer route. Anyway I went into a supermarket and a young couple advised me to take the train and that's what the Maps.ME recommended. I told them I am driving and can't take the train. Then they said you drive onto the train... but I didn't really get it. Then the girl explained, you sit in your car and the train will take you across the mountain in a tunnel to the place where I had booked my next hotel. Of course I missed the beauty of the scenic route because all we did was to sit in our car which was carried by a train.

I'm going do a road trip from Oslo to Lofoten islands this summer around 7-10 days. Nothing finalized yet but hoping to go along the west coast of Norway

We flew because to save time... There are cheap flights by Norwegian Air from Oslo to Svolvær but need to be booked well in advance. Then we hired another vehicle from Oslo to travel in the mainland.
It's a very beautiful country. You get to see what's in NZ South island, Canada, Switzerland - altogether in just one place - Norway! (y)

I have seen your posts. Seems like you have travelled all around the world. I also love to travel but hard to do so with kids and budget restrictions. But currently I live in Sweden so it is easy for me to go to Norway. BTW Post some travel posts if you have some time (at least photos)
