At the joining, starting salary varies on selected position, educational qualification, company (for same position different companies offer different salary packages.)

Most Software companies give priority to government universities specially University Of Moratuwa (Eng, IT) and University Of Colombo.

If you are joining as Programmer,

ASE (Associate Software Engineer) - 50000 - 60000
SE (Software Engineer) - 80000 - 120000
SSE (Senior Software Engineer) - Above 120000

If you are joining as a QA(Quality Assurance) salary will be bit less compare to programmer.

Rest is up to you. If you perform well salary will be increased than you expect and if you are bad at don't expect anything than 1000 - 5000 increment from yearly appraisal.

Currently I'm also working as SSE in a Software Company (Only 4 years experience now) and getting a salary nearly 200000/=. If you are good at your job you can go to higher salary level.
