The protest meet by actor Vijay against the Sri Lankan government for failing to curb the killing and torturing the Indian fishermen has irked the Sri Lankans that they decided to ban all Vijay movies except Kaavalan in their country.
Actor Vijay in that protest march held in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu, India said that Sri Lanka should be wiped off the world map if the Sri Lankan Navy continues attacking South Indian Fishermen.
This has irked the SL government and it went to the extend of banning all Vijay movies.
Intially they decided to ban Vijay's latest movie Kaavalan as well.
However, the decision to ban Kaavalan was soon put aside as the film has AsinAsin playing the female lead. Sri Lanka considers actress Asin as Lanka friendly as she visited Lanka and toured northern Jaffna peninsula with Sri Lanka's first lady Shiranthi Rajapakse despite the ban imposed by south India films artist union.
Sources say that Asin enjoys a good support among the Sri Lankans as she was involved in various social welfare activities during her visit to that country last year.
The decision not to ban Kavalan for Asin’s sake has created a lot of controversy in Kollywood.
Industry analysts feel that one thing that seems to be certain from this decision is to create a hullabaloo in the Tamil film industry.
