amila_90210 said:After King Manu’s royal dynasty there are other royal dynasties mentioned in the oral tradition, such as Tharaka (~10,000 years ago), Mahabali (~7500 years ago), and Raavana (~5000 years ago). Interestingly, of these kings, King Raavana’s technological and military prowess was so renowned that he is depicted in Indian literature as having ten heads and numerous hands holding a multitude of weapons. When eventually King Raavana succumbed, to the wrath of Rama, (his Indian nemesis) the people of India rejoiced in victory and celebrated in a festival atmosphere. To this day, the festival of 'Deepavali' celebrated each year by one billion Indians including the Tamil community, is a celebration of the defeat of this famed Hela King Raavana.![]()

I was in India, I will be in India and I love India... I have much closer firends in India than in Sri Lanka... They miss me when I am here.. but Sri Lankan friends don't miss me when I am there.... I feel more comfortable in India... Here I feel lonely... Here people live very superficial, animated, boring lives... If you ever travel in a bus look at people attentively... you may have not noticed before, because you live the same life... The passengers are either sleeping or sleepy or dreaming... Even friends, Husban-wife, Parent-children don't talk to each other... only kids are happy, but as they grow they too fall into the same rut... Muslims, Tamils and Sinhalese christians are livelier... Mainly Buddhists look tired or retired... No offence meant... This is my observation... Observe and tell me if you notice something different...coolgayathra said:1st of all

They talk a lot... In Kolkota they talk so much... India received Mobile phines much later than us... They come here and give us the lowest rates, and our Govt set limits to satelite phones... They got color TV later than us... They have 100s of channels through cable even the poorest houses who has a TV, most of the country can see two channels properly... some only one. They progress past because they have a very strong cultural foundation... we are becoming like primitive people who didn'y have ANY religion to keep their minds alive and attentive.akolla said:tell us what do we observe in an indian bus as you call it more lively?
A friend of mine said the same thing when he first visited... but over time coming into contact with indian people, making friendships one realizes the beauty... A country becomes beautiful mainly because of the people.... Streets are dusty, dirty.. many people live in slums... but Middle class people live in cleaner houses than in Sri Lanka... Some don't allow us to wash our hands in to the sink.... You have not lived with them.... As a tourist you see a very little... What a tourist knows about our life.. They only see the beaches, our ruins and tourist hotels... You should live with people for sometime to know them.. I have visited all of the metros and seen a lot... made firends with a lot... So my perspective is different. I didn't feel like you even at the first time... When you visit a Lotus pond... Mud is there, Lotus also there... you choose what to look at and what to take.nj542 said:india is the most dirty, filthy, smelly country i've ever been to.....![]()

I prefer the TV .... TV brings a lot from unknown for twenty four hours and Toilet I need only once or twice in a day... I would continue to use the same replcement I had for a toilet so far and watch TV with 100 channels...akolla said:am not dissapointing you, kolkata is one of the dirtiest palces around in india. the poor there might have a TV, but did you no that they have the least sanitory fascilities you would ever see? what do you prefer in first place, a colour TV with 100 channels or a toilet?
