ECONOMYNEXT – Fitch Ratings has upgraded Sri Lanka’s local currency rating to CCC- from restricted default after the completion of a domestic debt restructuring.
“We assume the debt restructuring will lower Sri Lanka’s gross financing needs over the medium term, in line with the targets under the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility, and support an improvement in the country’s debt metrics over time,” Fitch said.
“Local-currency restructuring could accelerate progress towards the restructuring of external debt.”
Fitch said the upgrade came after the central bank’s debt was re-structured.

ශ්රී ලංකාවේ දිගු කාලීන දේශීය-මුදල් නිකුතු ශ්රේණිය RD (Restricted Default) හෙවත් සීමිත පැහැරහැරීමේ මට්ටමේ සිට 'CCC-' වෙත උසස් කිරීමට ෆිච් රේටින්ග්ස් ජාත්යන්තර ණය වර්ගීකරණ ආයතනය පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.
මෙම උසස් කිරීම හරහා මහ බැංකුව, 2023 ජූලි මාසයේදී දියත් කරන ලද, ශ්රී ලංකාවේ දේශීය ණය ප්රශස්ත කිරීමේ (DDO) සැලැස්මේ දේශීය මුදල් කොටස සම්පූර්ණ කිරීම පිළිබිඹු කරනු ඇති බව ෆිච් රේටින්ග්ස් ආයතනය වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කර ඇත.
