SrI Lanka should balance the budget. Start privatizing state enterprises except water and drainage. Pay off Debt to Foreign investors. We should not have a high level of consistant debt and High level of taxation. The country should cut unnecesary subsidies. Fix prices at market rates for Disel , Kerosene , Petrol and Gas. Country should also cut subsidies to electricity consumption. By overcharging One consumer passing subsidy to other.
We do not need fertilizer subsidy. Price of Rice for consumer is allways higher than produciton because middle man takes it all. The country should focus on giving interest free loans on tractors to farmers. This will reduce consistant subsidy on consumption and it will increase production where price will eventually fall due to overproduciton. Sri Lanka should have state controled private Rice milling centers and State controled private transport for Rice. So farmer and consumer should get price for prodution and consumption of Rice.
Samurdhi benifits should directly paid into bank. People should choose what they want like in India where courruption will be less.Sri Lanka should never print Rupees and Devalue its currency. Sri lanka should have a strong Rupee. So poor people will never become poorer.
