Sutha Thanabalasingham, 27, was taken to hospital last night suffering muscle loss and low blood sugar levels, but would not agree to any treatment.
The Australian Tamil community has been protesting outside Kevin Rudd's Sydney and Canberra residences in recent days, calling on him to push for a ceasefire in Sri Lanka.
Around 50 protesters remain near The Lodge in Canberra, calling on the Federal Government to act.
Community spokeswoman Dr Sam Pari says the 27-year-old's condition deteriorated rapidly after spending over 100 hours without food or water.
"Within the last hour before we got to the hospital he had started developing stomach cramps, he started having nausea and he was struggling to sleep, he said he had back pain, and so these signs came on very quickly and that's the alarm bells started going off," she said.
Six men are currently on hunger strike, and Dr Pari says the strikes will continue.
"The other boys are still there and they plan to continue with their fasting," she said.
"We plan to continue our rally until the Australian Government responds to our cause."
The 27-year-old plans to return to the protest this morning, but will now be drinking some water.
