The Day The Earth Stood Still is a remake of the 1951 classic science fiction film of the same name. The story revolves around Klaatu (Keanu Reeves), an alien and his indestructible robot companion Gort, whose arrival on the earth causes an upheaval across the planet. Meanwhile, Klaatu come across Helen Benson (Patricia Neal) as she is member of a team of scientists who are treating him. When authorities refuse to grant Klaatu the chance to address the world leaders and start treating the extraterrestrial as a hostile Helen and her estranged step son Jason promptly learn the deadly ramifications of Klaatus claim that he is a friend to the Earth.
