The specified module cannot be found

When I try to play certain DivX format media files using the Windows Media Player I get the following error: “The specified module cannot be found” and the video cannot be played.

I tried downloading a codeck pack and even that did not resolve the issue. Can anyone help me?

Thanks,
Yohan

You will need the codec specified for the file you are trying to play. Maybe the codec you installed is not the correct one. Since it's hard to say which codec is needed. You can try to play it in the divx player after installing latest divx codecs.

Sometimes vlc player plays files which don't work with other players. :) Try it first:

I prefer MPlayer classic, because they have a 64bit version of it :D

Might be your video is "out of sync", It could be repaired with certain software. But since audio/video editing is not my cup of tea, I'll not try to recommend you any software. [I had some bad experiences with those type of things ]

    Read this thread:
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/567780.html

This is what one member fro there, has to say:
When it goes out of sync, in VLC you can use Ctrl K or Ctrl L to either speed up or slow down the audio as required until it's in sync.

Some files are just not synced correctly when captured or re-encoded.

Try it and good luck :)

I recommend it to anybody bringing a audio/video related problem to me.

One reason is I'm not good at troubleshooting those types of problems, but I need to keep my reputation as a "goto guy for anything computer related" intact.

VLC had never failed me yet

Already Tried the Klite Codec pack

I already tried the Klite Codec pack, that did not resolve the issues. Only thing that resolved the problem partially was the VLC player. Thanks for the rep though.

What you say is quite true considering about getting software performance to match the available hardware.

But I still play dos age games too, there are some games which are true gems, nothing could match them, even today's 3D gfx RAM guzzlers.
    eg: Lemmings
