If it's a conventional war, the US has the advantage. RUS will give a good fight, but eventually, they would lose.
Then, Without having anything further to lose, RUS would turn that into a nuclear war. Both would launch ICBMs, thousands of them.
RUS has the advantage of Mobile ICBMs which are nearly impossible to track by early warning systems. Also, they have got the largest
    warhead stockpile.

~30 - 40% of launched ICMS would be tracked by anti-ICBM systems both US & Rus, others will reach their destinations.
No country can survive that scale nuclear strike.

( Below is a prediction made by a well known military strategist in the early 80s, i read it somewhere)

There won't be a winner after a war between Russia & the US.
    Both know it.

Both US and Soviets. For example rocket technology and Jet propulsion.

Yep in reality both can wipe each other out (mutually assured destruction) that's why they don't fight.

Russian navy can't hold a candle to US navy and that's okay. Russian has always been a land power, not much of a naval power due to it's geo location. US is flanked by two big ass oceans therefore they are much more inclined to maintain a powerful navy.

But NATO nukes can't reach Russia due to their AD systems.
