if local gov uni graduates are the best of the best why still we are a 3rd world 3rd class countryand all the construction done by chinese ? no mechanical products ?
yet we can't find any gov unis in atleast within the best 1000 unis around the world. Yet they call them selves best of the best. They are best for rag
its not where and what you study matters. situation in our country proves that.

Reason is machan, this goverment expects their commison in every damn tiny project. If they hire local engineers, they want get their "kuttiya" plus when we sign loan agreemnt with china we are also agreeng to use their engineers, chinese machines and chinese labour force.
That is why there is not much sri lankan products out their.(yet some of us survives and trying to do some thing new. perhaps you dont know but there is a group that are working on made in sri lanka air craft (already flied and tested, I was there
) and making a made in sri lanka Electric Vehecle that can match commercial EVs). But I know how they suffer from lack of funds, sponsorship and facilities. they even spend their own money to buy items and make those projects successful.Because of lack of sponsorship most of the new products/inventions born in SL by a SL engineer either die after birth or sold to another country. (perhaps you dont know that two wheel tractor (අත් ට්රැක්ටරය) was invented by SL engineer Ray Wijewardane) was sold to KUBOTA because lack of goverment sponsership, now KUBOTA holds the patent for it.

If this or any government would simply fund more to facilitate local UNIs their rank will automatically come up. I'm an Electronics engineer from moratuwa uni. In our department all most all the test equipment including our department building is a donation froom Japan. If it wasnt for them we will still have no instruments in our labs or worst case proper building. non of previous government or existing one supplied any considerable facilities yet. So how can you expect ranks to go up if they dont helps??. Its lucky we are able to hold our position by our own.
And most importantly University of Moratuwa , Engineering Faculty is a rag free zone, and we maintain it as a practice
Well it does bro... no offence but do you really think person from simple IT institute can match knowledge of a university graduate? sorry friend other than what they taught in institutes, exposure to industry and whole lot of other factors play major roles when making a good engineer. for example, experience,exposure and network of the lecturer will influence the quality of the student he is teaching.

Yeah in short what you have said is that Sri Lankan government doesn't support/give funds to the development of the Sri Lankan government universities..So those universities won't develop/go above in rankings.Yeah its true.

I can only say "think twice about that" .but I doubt whether you'll realize it because you don't know the situation in a institute like SLIIT for example. 
but yeah what I say is whether it is private or government university/Institute the quality/Standard is no way up to the mark.
and it won't be ever..forget about Europe/Ausi/US.just talk about Asia.Ok then forget about Russia,China.just think how far is Malaysia from our education is??aren't they have a much better education than us??why top 100 university like Monash has built a branch campus over there??

why student go to country like Bangladesh to do Medicine???

why don't people let to build pvt Medical Faculties in Sri Lanka??doesn't that shows the level of Sri Lankans??
Now none of the Sri Lankan universities (whther its gov or pvt) in top 2000 world rankings.I am sure non of them will be in top 5000 by 2025.
just think, take a look at the world university rankings..and get top 200 universities for example does either of those universities provide free education??either of these universities give a bachelor degree for free??juts look?no right??isn't that something to think about.
well now don't say "so private universities in SL charge money so they should be in top 200" and so on.
the thing is after all its still SRI LANKANS!!! unless the whole people change completely or at least change their attitude Sri Lankan education will be like this forever or else will go down further.........

I don't know why you took my post so personally, Maybe your subconscious know the answer..
I know back in 1970s there was few people made there own planes and even fly them. I even know a guy who made a helicopter in his home few years ago ( he didn't even pass A/L ).
If you say I'm just a stupid IT guy from a pathetic private institute. MAybe you are right. But people in my profession never complain and shout which we can't change.
Yet these stupid IT guys bring more money than engineers who took free education and left the country,
again I say what ever or where ever you study you can't be the better man if you can't be humble.
