My Dear Kausha_sk and Susantha Silva

Let me give you a helping hand in this matter.

It is posible to enter an institute in Sri Lanka with only your O Level Results, but in most institutes I know you will have to sit for a foundation program for roughly 8 months (duration depending on the institute).

To add an extra note, your age and the fact that you have done "London" Examinations will not be a problem, since I myself did only London examinations and I do have a batchmate who is 30 years of age. So that will not be an issue

If you have any other problems related to this matter please feel free to reply

    Thank You

    My Dear Friends

First of all its a pleasure to help people and specially to see someone being benifitted from such a help brings great joy

Viduruwan, its a pleasure to see you in this discussion - he is a batchmate of mine studing a degree in computing, so anything related to this subject you could get advice from him as well

I will answer all your questions here

There are several institutes that offer degrees now, and some of these institutes have gone into the extent of offering private Medical degrees as well, but I do accept the fact that the choice is somewhat limited but there is a larger variety now. Related to this there is a guide being published known as "The Education Guide of Sri Lanka" they have a website as well. This guide book has information on all the institutes private and public, their programs and entry requirements. However there are many more institutes and campuses that are hoping to establish here, so there will be a greater choice for you

As for your second question, many sri lankan's prefer degrees in LLB (Law), IT (mostly software engineering) and Business related subjects, and even though the war is over, the impact on the country's economy has not been changed yet, therefore my advice for you is to choose a field that will interest you or that will motivate you to learn and research, so that you could even impress your employers and sub ordinates with your knowledge in the field.

As for your third question, all these institutes are private concerned, you might find a handful of semi government institutes, apart from that all these institutes are private.

I hope I was sucessful in answering your questions, any help needed please don't hesitate to ask

    Thank You

does anybody knows whether A/L is required for BCS professional level???

    My Dear dil

According to what I have researched A/L results are not necessary but you will have to prove that you are eligible and well suited to sit for the examinations, since there are four subjects while all being optional, so you will have to prove your suitability to sit for these subjects

Try speaking to institutes like ESOFT and Matrix for more information

I hope I have answered you

    Thank You

    Hi Hasala,

Noted all information you provided. I appreciate it so much and thank you for stating each and every single detail clearly !
I now have to do a research about IT or Business/Marketting. I hope I succeed on my research..
I am thinking of doing it part time because I am offered a job in SL on the Marketting sector. I could have followed Marketting based on the fact that my job would be under Marketing BUT I like computing too..so i need to figure out which one does for me..
I did Commerce and Accounting for my LON OLevels..
And maybe after sometime I am willing to move abroad again but not to Itaoly but to UK,Australia or Canada.

I thank you again Hasala for you outstanding information.

    regards
