To those who wear contact lenses.

Please remove them when you have or attend a BBQ party or whatever that got to do with flames or heat… I heard a horrible true story about contact lenses…

It happened to a 21 year old guy in Malacca, he wore a pair of contact lenses during a barbecue party. While, he was barbecuing, he stared at the hot charcoals.

After a few seconds, he started to scream for help and moved rapidly, jumping up and down.

No one in the party knew why. When he arrived at the Hospital, the doctor said he’ll be blind permanently; courtesy of the contact lenses that he wore.

Contact lenses are made of plastics, and the heat from
the hot charcoal melted his contact lenses.

  • I am suffering from keratoconus, where the curvature of the cornea changes with time. SO I have to change my lenses sometimes once in 3 months (luckily bit stable now).

There are only two treatment options besides that. First is a corneal graft, which needs a surgery (yuk!), and careful looking after of the graft. Second is to wear "rigid" (glass) contact lenses so the cornea is kept in shape without distortion. When I tried the second, I got a severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic reaction), which nearly killed me.

from where you have changed the lenses?? what is the Lense your using RGP ??
I am having keratoconus too. and i am using RGP contact lenses and now it's difficult ware those. i hard rose k2 lenses are specially design for keratoconus.
Do you know a person who can fit the lense properly. i went to vision care but they couldn't fix a lens with the vision. I am having advance keratoconus
