Nope, it’s more like a proper off roader with a center diff and transfer case. These need proper maintenance and the correct grade of oil. For example, you can’t use GL-5 diff fluid in a GL-4-rated transfer case. that will eventually ruin the brass synchros. in Rav4 it's simple in AWD model it's just a Viscous coupler in the Gearbox itself.
Well that's complicated. Sorento has the same setup as RAV4 it seems. I had to take the whole gearbox apart to change that coupler once. Also Rav4s, be it 2WD or AWD, they don't do much on fuel. 2400cc engine is old school and not very efficient. Petrol Prado like fuel consumption.

Yes Domestic model commonly found here had the CVT. Only the Brand new model imported bh Toyota Lanka had Conventional Auto. By the way TL imported the Long wheel base model which very much equal to the Vanguard.
