TRC approval for imported Mobile phones

ahh thats great machan. what type of shipping did you use btw? DHL?
will they let my order pass without that letter too ?

that letter is sent to u by the customs srilanka to pick the item from colombo...
then when u go there they open the package infront of u and they will write down the phone details (imei phone model etc) on the paper and with that info u gota to to trc get the certivaket come back to customs pick up the item from there by paying a tax ....

that phone is still on pre-order and they expect to ship it by the 20th this month so I guess I will have to wait for sometime to see if gets detained!

but it is difficult to handle warranty with Ebay Sellers right?
Any idea how much tax i'll have to pay? I am also getting a screen protector , casing and a memory card along with the phone, will that affect the tax?

Yea But sometimes they don't check. So It's your luck
Normally UPS, DHL, FedEx do pay tax to Custom and give us Receipt (If tax is low).

It would work if I ask the seller to under-value the phone right? Do they by any chance check the model and the actual prices to get the tax? or do they just tax according to the value the seller gives?

Yes, you will have to take TRC approval and pay tax. Hope they under valued it. otherwise you will have to pay more tax

BTW could save about 6000Rs if ordered from eBay
