- Initially didnt bid on large projects. Bid on very small projects which the employer would have not minded even if they lost the whole money. (my first job was for $20)
- Wrote an appealing proposal, of course I had a template but I change it to match the project description; don't forget to say that although you are new there, you are an experienced guy.
- Offered risk free engagement where I did the job without any commitment and if the employer liked it only he could select me and pay.

I am not doing data entry by the way
