Sri Lanka’s Chaminda Vaas hit a top score of 79 as Middlesex piled up 361 runs in their first innings on the second day of their English County championship match against Glamorgan continued at Lord’s yesterday.


Vaas hoisted one six and struck eleven boundaries while facing a total of 95 deliveries.

Sri Lanka’s champion off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan captured five wickets for 53 runs as Lancashire dismissed Sussex for 274 runs in their first innings on the second day of their English County championship match continued at Liverpool yesterday.


Muralitharan also hit a breezy 28 from 22 deliveries with the help of four boundaries as Lancashire took a good first innings lead while scoring 301 runs.
