3870X2 should definitely be faster than a 8800GT SLI setup!

I'm not sure about Aussie pricing for a 3870x2 and before buying you should also consider how long he's been using that right?

Other thing is, even I thought of going for 3870CF but decide against it at the very last moment... and jumped into 4 series because even when I checked the market not many places selling 3870 already here in Malaysia... and 3870x2 not selling anymore either.... I think you need to decide bro!

The issue with your Mobo is both PCI-E in SLI running @ 8X not true 16X, unless you get a such mobo.. then I think you'll see some difference... The best option if you really wanna go ATI Dual GPU in your system.. well.... its 4870x2 which I think not so far from your current budget right (Not so sure about OZ pricing)
