Video Help!!!

Hey guys,

I have a problem with AVI Files on my PC.
Whenever I tryto play them , It says:

Windows MEdia Player has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I installed Cuckosoft Video Converting Suite today. Even after i uninstalled it i can't play .avi files!!!

Not only can't i play them, i can't even convert them for my iPod!!!
.wmv files work fine.
There was no problem like this today morning....
Pls help. Any sugestions also welcome.

I am using Windows Vista Business.

no, but i have installed Vista Codecs pack and Ace Mega Codecs Pack and Div X.

Windows vista, and it's not only for media player, Quicktime, Media Player Classic are all the same! They crash!
and of all the .avi files on my Laptop, only one file works, i recently downloaded it.(Yesterday) and i couldn't convert it to iPod with my regular converter(JODIX FREE IPOD VIDEO CONVERTER) so i installed a different free one. That didn't work either. Then 2day I installed the Cuckosoft Suite.... and now i can't play .avi files...i tried a .wmv file and that one worked!!

Pls. help.

right click 2 on the avi file & go 2 properties & select genaral tab & click the change & select wmplayer & clike ok. then play
