Machan who told you about this? IIRC MAC addresses get changed at each hop (router) so the destination only knows it's default-gateway's MAC address and not mine. That is the reason why we use IP addresses to communicated.
Let me explain, this gonna get technical.
When a data packet goes through the network it uses 4 main segments travel. The source and destination IP addresses and source and destination MAC addresses. Throughout the path the source and destination IP's stay the same. But at each hop, the source and destination MAC addresses get changed. The reason is MAC is used for sending data between devices in a local network.
There are ways to track back but those tools are really expensive.

Machan, try re-installing this without uninstalling the existing. I had the same issue where some drivers were not properly installed. After reinstalling it on top of it, the problem was fixed.

In a way what you say is true. But you have a misconception in your argument. Packets don't have to came back the same way they went to the destination. That is the truth about internet. Normal data goes through different paths. Only dedicated lines and VPN tunnels makes sure that data goes through the same way.
Mama hacking igena gena nathi nisa mama mae gana mita wadiya deyak kiyanna danne nae. The other problem is how are you going to access the log entries of each hop? You have to have special tools to that if you want to get that info without the permission of that owner.
I hope you get the picture i'm painting.There's a whole lot things that lab environments don't show you in real production environments.
