මොන? 10ක් කිව්වේ? දවසකට 10ක්?
Supplements of 10,000 - 15,000 IU (injections) were used during the SARS epidemic on older people as it was noted that Vitamin D has a beneficial effect on respiratory diseases.
Ever since Covid started, all in our family took 2000 IU daily.
Even though the FDA recommended dosage (RDA) is 800 IU, it's generally considered to be safe to exceed this level. Always you should exceed these levels if you are Vitamin D deficient. Long term studies ( 12 to 18 months) have been done with continuous doses up to 15,000 IU. No adverse consequences were noted.
However, extremely high dosages for over more than a month can cause toxicity. For eg: dosages over 60,000 IU can cause a serious condition known as hypervitaminosis D, mainly causing the Calcium bulidup in the blood which can lead to other issues.
