The prevailing dry weather conditions continue in the coming weeks, the supply of water to Greater Colombo and surrounding areas will have to be restricted, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board warned today.
However they said so far there is no risk of limiting water supplies.
The Board has advised to use water sparingly.
The advise came as water consumption has risen as a result of the prevailing dry weather conditions.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board said that around 120 to 130 million gallons of water was being released daily from the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant.
Earlier the Power and Energy Ministry warned to use electricity carefully, particularly during the peak hours as the supply has dropped.
